Welcome

The finest thing is
like the sun

As the saying goes, “It is the sun’s light and warmth that nurture all living things,” the sun has long been a measure of life and time. The light that opens the morning and awakens the day restores the body’s rhythm and brings gentle warmth to the mind.

THE CONA Hanok Haeonjaeis a hanokstay where sunlight and warmth reside. The traditional structure of a residential hanokbuilt in the 1950s in Anam-dong, Seongbuk-guhas been carefully restored, then reinterpreted with bright daytime light and modern comforts—creating a space where the beginning of the day feels at its most beautiful.

At the end of a familiar neighborhood alley in Anam-dong, opening the wooden gate reveals sunlight filtering into the courtyard. Warm air flows along the open maru, shaping the gentle and welcoming atmosphere unique to Haeonjae. The courtyard, embracing open sky and greenery, naturally awakens the body during the stay and helps restore a light, unhurried rhythm to the day. Haeonjae is a place where rest unfolds as a natural extension of everyday life.
Preserving traditional aesthetics while easing the inconveniences of daily living, this modern hanokoffers a cozy bedroom for restful sleep, a daecheongmaru(living area) where conversation flows, and a kitchen(dining space) for simple cooking. In the bath overlooking the small courtyard, guests can immerse themselves in warm water as sunlight lingers—experiencing a gentle way to begin the day that is unique to Haeonjae. Haeonjae proposes a refined form of rest: awakening with light and living the day naturally, in its most unadorned and graceful way.

Spatial
 Composition

Hanok architecture has evolved in response to changes in time, lifestyle, and function.
While rooted in the form and spatial order of traditional wooden construction, it has been reinterpreted as a contemporary living environment by incorporating the comforts and usability suited to modern life.

THE CONA Hanok is a hanokstay reimagined from a residential hanokbuilt in the 1950s. Taking into account spatial flow and everyday circulation, the original structure has been reinterpreted into its present L-shaped layout.
Natural wood materials are combined with contemporary furnishings—including beds, sofas, and dining tables—to create a modern living environment. To maximize the usability of the traditional hanoklayout for today’s way of living, each room is designed with sliding doors that allow spaces to be expanded or separated as needed.

Room

The bedroom of Haeonjae is designed as a space where guests can focus entirely on rest within a continuous flow of spaces. Positioned at the corner of the layout, the room is furnished with two single beds dressed in five-star hotel bedding, ensuring a comfortable and restorative stay.
The bedroom can be separated from the maru by a door, allowing privacy and a cozy atmosphere to be maintained throughout the stay. Generous circulation and a restrained composition are carefully planned to prevent unnecessary tension and to support a senseofease. Natural light filtering through the window blends with the distinctive textures of hanokmaterials, creating a calm setting in which the beginning and end of each day can be gently embraced.

Maru

The maru of Haeonjae is the central space of the main house, where the rhythms of daily life naturally converge. Designed to open toward the courtyard and surrounding landscape, it allows the serene and peaceful scenery characteristic of a hanokto be enjoyed as chagyeong—borrowed scenery. A sofa is placed within the maru, offering a comfortable place to rest during the stay. Behind the sofa, a built-in lighting humidifier is installed to gently maintain balanced air quality and humidity throughout thespace.
By the window, a beam projector is provided, and custom glass speakers crafted by THE CONA allow guests to enjoy films or music in a calm and unhurried manner. The open structure and restrained composition enable light and air to permeate evenly throughout the entire space.

Kitchen

To the left of the maru, a kitchen is provided. Equipped with a single-burner induction cooktop, basic cookware, and tableware, it is arranged for simple meal preparation.
A refrigerator/freezer, induction cooktop, electric kettle, and coffee machine are fully provided, allowing guests to use thekitchen comfortably and without inconvenience throughout their stay.

The bathhouse of Haeonjaeis designed as a bathing and sauna space, planned along a natural circulation that flows seamlessly from the bedroom.
The bathtub, crafted in a clean, rectilinear form, provides stable support and a comfortable bathing experience. A restrained spatial composition allows full focus on the act of bathing itself.Soft indirect lighting is applied throughout the space, maintaining a calm atmosphere regardless of the time of day.Immersing the body in warm water under bright yet even illumination allows the fatigue and tension accumulated through daily life to slowly dissolve.

The bathhouse is equipped with a steam sauna, allowing relaxation to continue beyond bathing. A large window opening toward the courtyard offers views of the surrounding landscape and seasonal changes even from indoors. The seamless connection from the bedroom and the courtyard-facing layout together complete a bathing experience that is both deeply comfortable and serene.
